Are there too many days in the month when it comes to your paycheck? A lot of people have trouble making their money stretch these days with the high cost of living. Even people good at budgeting find that they simply are not making enough money.
Sure, you can use a payday loan like one listed on Think Save Retire, but that should only be done in an emergency. Instead, make some extra money on the side and you can better get through those lean months.
Then, when you are through that tough period, that extra money can be socked away for a rainy day. If you don’t want to give up your day job, then read on for a few side hustles you can do in your spare time.
1 – Become a farmer
This idea may sound unrealistic, but if you have some space in your yard, or can arrange to rent out space in somebody else’s then you can make extra money by doing small scale farming.
With new growing methods, you don’t need much space. People love eating locally grown vegetables so you can easily find people looking to sign up for deliveries. Or, you can set up a small vegetable stand in front of your house and sell what you grow.
Just be sure to check your local regulations and pay your taxes properly and you can make decent money while also doing something very rewarding.
2 – Uber driver
If you have a decent car, then you can always be a driver for Uber or Uber Eats. The beauty about it is that you work when you have time. If your schedule is not the same from week to week, it isn’t a problem.
When you have free time after work or on the weekends, just go on the app and you’ll start getting rides. You can easily make a few hundred dollars per month in your spare time doing this.
3 – Retail arbitrage
Do you love to shop and are good at spotting a bargain? Then you can buy stuff cheap and then sell it online for a profit. This is called retail arbitrage.
The way it works goes like this: if there is a sale going on at a store near you, you buy up some of the stuff cheap. Then you can set up an account to sell the item on Amazon for more than what you paid for it. You don’t have to worry about shipping or dealing with customers. Amazon does all of that for you.
This is especially lucrative when there is a store nearby that is going out of business and you can scoop stuff up cheap.
4 – Tutoring
If you have a speciality that people need to learn, then you can hire yourself out as a tutor for that subject. If you’re good at calculus for instance, then a high school student that struggles with it will be willing to pay for help getting their grades up.
You don’t have to be a teacher or have any teaching experience to do this.
