Motor giant General Motors is bringing back the Hummer into the market. However, this time the vehicle wouldn’t burn any fuel or produce greenhouse gases. The new Hummer in an all-electric form is dubbed as a ‘super truck’ with 1000 horsepower and possessing the ability to speed up from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3 seconds. The ‘super truck’ will be under the GMC brand. The teaser of the launch was released by GM minutes ahead of a 30-second Super Bowl ad for super truck Hummer called “Quiet Revolution.” The vehicle will be officially unveiled on May 20.

Though General Motors didn’t reveal the price of the new Hummer 2020, it shares some specifications of the vehicle like the ‘super truck’ producing power that will be equivalent to 1,000 horsepower, will have an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 3 seconds and it will consist of 11,500 feet torque. Though the new version of Hummer will feature the same design elements as the previous one, it wouldn’t have a similar look.
GM plans to kick-start the new venture with an electric pickup truck that will start production in late 2021. The Cruise Origin, which is an electric self-driving vehicle designed primarily for ridesharing, is the second vehicle to go into the production process at the Detroit plant.
According to Vice President of Global Buick and GMC, Duncan Aldred, GMC builds and develops premium, as well as capable trucks, SUVs and new GMC HUMMER EV, takes all this to a heightened level. The Hummer EV will be produced at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant of GM in Michigan. GM recently also announced its investment plan of $2.2 billion into the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant for the production of all-electric trucks and SUVs. There would also be a production of the self-driving vehicle which is unveiled by GM’s subsidiary Cruise. The company also plans to invest $800 million in the supplier tooling process and other projects related to the production and launch of new electric trucks.

Hummer initially originated as the Humvee military vehicle that was built by AM General in the area of South Bend, Indiana. The civilian version of Hummer attracted a huge count of people among SUV lovers, who had a severe inkling to the off-road readily vehicles.
